Dragon Warrior IV is a legendary and amazing game. I had an absolute blast playing it as a kid in the early 90s.

You know it was a great game to emulate even tho it was glitchy? I like Trails of Mana but after I got a working SNES with many final fantasy games I played both. The SNES versions have a patch in it so it doesn't have any glitch (that are fatal) I have played 31 hours and I am at the final areas. I was fearing SD3 translated onto a cart would be full of glitches and would be fatal but luckily that did not happen be thankful you can get Secret of Mana 2 (SNES) or Trials of Mana you can choose one or both.

The real question is, "What about H RPGS?"

Wow, fantastic coverage on another indie gem. I'm definitely going to keep my eye on this one. The Skies of Arcadia influences are certainly there, which is incredible because I absolutely adore that game and consider it my favorite game on Dreamcast. But, I do agree with Derek that the art style does seem to have a lot in common with Wind Waker - which is also fantastic. In addition, I'm getting some Rodea the Sky Solider and Solatorobo: Red the Hunter vibes as well. Put all of that together and things are shaping up to be quite the interesting JRPG treat.

I started with Persona 5 and absolutely love it. I decided to try final fantasy 7 remake but heard I should play the original first. I’ve just played the original for 30 minutes, so I don’t want to say it is bad. The graphics are weird. It was made in 1999, so I gotta give it the benefit of the doubt. The “turn-based” system is wonky with a time bar that each character and enemy independently has. If you don’t attack the enemy will keep attacking as it’s time bar completes. You also can’t see enemy health without a special ability you get later on. I died to the first boss not knowing if I was even close to killing it. I might pick it up later, but I’m really not sure now.

I look forward to getting this soon. I've heard a couple mixed things. Mainly performance on the switch. That's why I'm waiting for a PS5 purchase then picking this up for the PS5.

I think if accessibility weren’t an issue then Pokémon Black and White may be the best point to jump into the series for someone new to rpgs. They have the best story in the series by a longshot and have the largest new cast of pokémon in the whole series

I'm at level 68, 100 hours in and love it theres a ton if demons each comes with their own attitude. Def worth the price of admission on the PS5

When I was young the only gaming system I had was a Sega game gear so my first RPGs were Shinig force Sword of Haja and Beyind oasis. They wer bith decent for their time then because I had a part time Job I picked up a playstation and the real fun began. Been playing RPGs ever since.

A zelda game whitout a sword is not a zelda game I also felt that way when they got rid of the ocarina and the 🧚‍♂️ and dungeon but whit that all said I am ok whit the game that have came out so far

I was thinking about buying the original SMT 5, so I would assume I should go with this one? Also, I have never played any of the other SMT games. Is this one OK to jump into? I know it is on the more difficult side, but that does not bother me. Also, I do not care about the story, just the game play.

Played the original release of SMTV extensively with two full playthroughs, and though I didn't 'Complete' the game, I got pretty close to 100%. Vengeance is absolutely worth playing. The first few hours definitely feel like you're playing the original game with some small to medium changes and new characters, but the second half of the game is significantly different in ways I won't further spoil here. Combine that with quality of life updates, 60fps, about 40 new demons, new aesthetics, new locations, and a bunch of other great stuff and I'd say it's a must play for fans.

Please play Shin megami tensei 2 from the snes it's simply an amazing game

I never finished my first playthrough of the original game and holy heck I love the second story path.

I only played the original for about five hours and I’m playing the new one now and I see enough differences to be worth having started over again. I’m enjoying my play through much more with some of the changes like the human characters and such is totally worth another $90 Canadian I don’t know but I’m enjoying my time with it immensely

I already played the game 3 times to get all "maria" versions. I just don't have it in me to re-buy the game again, rebuy the dlc again, and put in the time to fully capitalize on the money spent.

Flatout this is worth it.

As a longstanding mainline SMT fan and someone who didn't much care for 5, I'd strongly recommend Vengeance. The quality of life improvements elevate the experience, and make it more accessible for newer players. Even though I think 5's story leaves a lot to be desired, the Canon of Vengeance has done a lot for my opinion of 5's legacy overall.

I’d love to hear some final thoughts if you actually keep playing this. I know it’s a decent sized game but taking 30 hours or so to really mix things up in a new campaign seems like egregiously long. I barely replay long games as it is, give me a reason to keep playing earlier than that.

People really need to play the game at least 30 hours in to see the major changes in the narrative before reviewing it. You barely even get past Minato 10 hours in.
